History of Delta Streets Academy

Delta Streets Academy was formed from an after-school program and summer program targeted at young men living in or around at-risk neighborhoods. Our ultimate goal here at DSA is to equip the young men that walk through our doors daily with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the skills needed to live a life that honors God.

Delta Streets Academy was founded in August 2012 and operated with 7th and 8th grade classes. When the doors first opened, we had fourteen students enroll along with two full time teachers and three part time teachers.

At the beginning of 2013, we had twenty-nine students enrolled between 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. With the growth, we also brought on two more full time teachers and another part time teacher. During the 2013-2014 school year, we had the opportunity to compete in athletics with football and basketball.

In our 2014-2015 year, we had 40 students enrolled in the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grades. Heading into fall 2015, we will be adding the 11th grade. We also joined the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools this past fall. Along with MAIS accreditation, we are accredited through Advanced Ed. As word gets out about our school, we are expecting rapid growth which will be great but bring some challenges as well!
