2021 Graduate Imanol Moreno recently obtained his Commercial Driver's License & bought his first home in Greenwood!
When Imanol graduated from Delta Streets in 2021, he attended Mississippi Delta Community College, majoring in business management. While at MDCC, he began working for his father's company Moreno Construction and just celebrated his fourth year in the family business! He went on to the Capps Technology Center, where he obtained his CDL Class A license.

Imanol said, "My dad was nervous starting his own business, but always told me that you have to take risks in life. We've grown and have three trucks now, which is why I went to CDL training."

Imanol said that DSA prepared him for life after high school in multiple ways. "DSA always embedded in me to be respectful and because we said the mission statement every day, it's stuck in my mind forever. I really liked that the teachers shared about their relationship with Jesus during morning devotionals."

He also said that his favorite class was math with Mr. McCray because he liked dealing with numbers. "We could never use a calculator and Mr. McCray always wanted us to work quickly and get it right."

When he's not at work, Imanol spends his free time renovating his new home with his dad. We're thankful and proud of the ways the Lord is working in Imanol's life!
Meet Anthony Forrest, our new Family Engagement Specialist!
Describe your position at Delta Streets Academy. My responsibilities as family engagement specialist are centered on serving and supporting students and their families, including finding resources, communicating academic expectations and realities, advocacy in hardship, and endeavoring to grow community through trust, while assisting and supporting the school and staff through liaison and collaboration in the academic and spiritual mission of Delta Streets.

How did you first hear about DSA? How have you seen the school impact the community? I first heard of Delta Streets from a friend in Jackson, shortly after we moved nearby in 2012. I have seen its impact in some of the trust that seems to have grown over the years. But I believe even more it has been the young men that have circled back at times through during my time around.

List any goals you have for your role. The goal of my role is to see the families and students feel supported, as well as the school and staff. In five years, I hope that this role is an even more essential part of the interior relationship between students and families and Delta Streets, with each impacting the other in a way that grows a community in faith and love.
Anthony planned our Black History Month Program held last evening on campus. Parents and family members of students enjoyed live music, free food and a time to meet Anthony and feel welcomed by DSA!
DSA is now set up to receive donations through stock transfer!

Please email gblocker@deltastreetsacademy.org with any questions about transferring stock.
